My Favorite Computer Game

Huuuge fan of video games!!! My favorite games are the Final fantasy series, I like games that involve strategy and that you cannot beat in one day. Anyways of these my favorite is probably Final Fantasy IX, just had a great story and fantastic game play and editing capabilities.

My Favorite Board Game

Well I am a great fan of board games love em especially the one's involving strategy(Clue, Stratego, Risk) and intellectual thought (Chess, Checkers, Trivial Pursuit). However I grew up in an insanely competitive household, probably due to my father being a coach. The greatest board game ever played in my house would have to be Monopoly. It was always fun to tick off my brother by never selling him anything, and gang up on my sister. Needless to say I do not believe the three of us ever completed a game, it was usually over when someone threw the board into the air. Memories :)

Incoming

Idit and the gang will be at SVHS on Wednesday October 15.

Homecoming Week

Last week was SVHS homecoming activities. Fun but very crazy week. For the first time I actually participated, let me emphasize, I am a happier person this year. I ended up dress up for PJ day, dressed as Darth Vader for Superhero/Supervillian Day, dressed as a White Trash Jedi for Crazy Day, and dressed as Senor Spirit for Spirit Day. Powderpuff football was entertaining but watching the Senior boys cheerleading team was the highlight of the week.

Internet conference #2

Last Thursday we had our 2nd internet confernce, everything went well. It was good to see the other teachers progress reports.

Falling Behind

I have my students post twice a week and just realized I had not posted since Sept something, bad bad teacher.

First internet conference

I missed school today, no Gargamel still had not caught the Smurfs. Hopefully my lesson plans were followed but going on past experience probably did not happen. We had a internet conf. with Lee today on Progress Reports., interesting to say the least. Other than that still impersonating a Keebler Elf, working on my house.

Headache

For the last four days I have endured a horrible fate. One of our bus drivers,Kevin, infected the entire staff of the CTE building with something. Personally it feels like an entire troop of Smurfs are being chased around and around in my head by Gargamel and Azriel. All the time singing that annoying song "La, la, la, la, la: la la la la la" I just wish Gargamel would hurry up and catch them because its getting pretty annoying.

You are a human not a fly

When all in life seems wrong just remember you are a human not a fly.
Human:Lifespan 7-10 decades
Fly:Lifespan 7-10 days
Human:Delicacy-Lobster
Fly:Delicacy-Fresh horse poop
Human: Species: Primate Defining feature-Opposable thumbs, and you are the only primate that can create and use complex tools. You are the envy of all other primates.
Fly: Species: Insect Defining feature-Two sets of wings. Flies lost their secondary wings through evolution and now are left with a nub. You are the joke of all insects as they call you "stubby".
Human: Work-You go to work and sit in a peaceful cubicle
Fly: Work-You go to work and sit on the rear end of a cow being constantly berated by a tail
Human:Birds-You see birds as a peaceful jesture of mother nature
Fly:Birds-You see birds as angels of death from the devil.
Human:Death-Your friends and family show up and remember your life.
Fly:Death-Your friends and family show up and eat your remains.
Being a human just isn't that bad.

Team Pages

Well I was in a crazy mood today raging headache but happy, guess I was like a pregnant squirrel, no matter what those things are in a good mood I seriously believe that to them nuts are like so sort of drug. I created the "Crabby Patty" Award today, Halloween is my favorite holiday (its all about the candy, you don't have to pretend to be nice to people, don't have to go crazy looking for presents, no ones going to catch on fire or blow a hand off from lighting a firecracker....) and one of my favorite candies are SpongeBob Squarepants Gummy Crabby Patties. I bought some today and the student that does something inpressive for the day gets the "Crabby Patty" Award for the day and the gummy treat. Only problem is I am probably going to eat them all and won't have any to give out, God bless my high metabolism, if I didn't have it I would be around 500 pounds. Soon I will create a "Crabby Patty" Award page and post the daily winners.

Monday Take 2

After a weekend spent adding all kinds of stuff to the wiki page, lot of work much time brain hurts. Anyways I did an overview of editing the wiki page, rules for editing and got more students user accounts fired up. Created a team page for each group to have fun and post all their info. on for their quiz games.

User Accounts Take 2

The kids or as I call them Reeds little monkeys, are still working on getting their user accounts. I have quite a few kids that are in and ready to go others are waiting on passwords. I spent a lot of time today creating the kids user files for the user gallery. Still am coming home from work happy, thats a great thing to say after 3 somewhat rough years.

User Acounts

Today my students signed up to get their passwords and user accounts. Afterwards the finished their questions for their quiz games. I think most of the games will be interesting and develop the skills to create better games throughout the year. Still working on my computers, I still believe Bill Gates has an evil plan to take over our world be forcing us to update windows over and over.

Monday

So finally we have the evil dreaded Monday of school. I spent a lot of the day updating computers, and trying to get AutoCAD 2008 to work, I so wish 2007 was back. In game design class the groups we formed began working on ideas for a question type of game. Each group is going to create a 15 question game to get use to the flash program. Other than that still being the keebler elf and working on my house.

So it begins

Now begins the daily tale of whats in my head. The last two weeks of school have been pretty much insane. The first week all I did was recruit students for my program, due to getting the class at the end of last school year. Recruiting was fairly easy getting 35-37 students in a matter of a few days. Last week I began with my students. I have a very racially and gender diverse classroom, which is great considering I am in a county that is about 99% white. The students in my classroom are great and are very interested in the program. Last week we completed the survey and did reviews of video games. We also had discussions on themes and ideas for games. Overall I believe we will be sticking with science and technology themed games. Anyways I am looking forward to the software being installed and getting the kids signed up for the wiki page, and their blog sites.

Why I like Computer Game Design

As I sit in a staff development training for CTE, drooling and almost comatose I appreciate the wonderful job Lee and the others did in our summer conferences. Pray for me.

Another thought

Head going to explode.

New Conference

School begins on Thursday yee-haw three days of teacher training I so do love teacher training days. Tuesday the kids arrive and the fun really begins. Teaching 8 periods instead of six and covering for teachers actually is going to make this year so much more pleasant, I just pity the sub if I take a day off. Biggest concerns for me this year are rearranging the room again, updating the computers software, and hardware (new motherboards and video cards, finally), and being able to build the hovercraft this year, other than that looking forward to a good year.
